Amica: The kind " remake " of medieval music is often criticized by musical science because of the lack of documents, of ambiguous notations. There is not possibility of rebuilding the music authentically. Did you have clear documents to make " Futuro Antico " or you improvised?

Angelo: Then, there is not, in the medieval music, besides what you want... speaks even with Cristina (flutist of the group 1997), who is a more specialist... In the medieval music, there is nothing. These are never but instruments that we build today according to tables. However at the base, in this type of music, there is a very important thing. This type of music, nevertheless, at that time, was precise. Each one, as he wanted, adapted this music. It changed also the words and sang it with its manner, with any type of instrument. Therefore it is free also today, in the memory, the construction of any type of arrangement is free so to speak. I know some so much, of these melodies. I took them with my manner and thus came freedom. Does not like the purism of the musicologists. In fact is, the innovation of this disc " Futuro Antico " that I sing of a normal voice while all the others sing of a pointed voice which does not exist, because nobody sang thus before the fifteenth century, you see?

Amica: Which the idea had just carried out this " Futuro Antico "?

Angelo: Then, the idea, I had it it is already a long time. We spoke about it with the Master Renato Serio already 5 years ago. Then one day, with the improvist, I very wanted to do it, I had a few days of free, and did we it at once.

Amica: Some believe that this album is a return to the style of your beginnings. How do you believe that the medieval music is comparable with young Branduardi?

Angelo: See you, I do not know it... Let us say that there is a beautiful sentence of Heidegger whom I read who say that each one does not find its origins at the beginning, it finds them at the end. I is not at the end, however, it is sure, I am not any more at the beginning, 47 years... And to say the truth, when I was young, me was called trouvere, ménestrel, that annoyed to me to die. Today, on the other hand, it is true. I was born like that, I say it in the concert, I was born with this nose there, I was born with this music there All my musical taste was formed during this musical time there, which goes from the late Middle Ages to the Baroque. It is my formation, it is thus. Now I accept it readily.

Amica: How do you evaluate the possibility of a commercial success of " Futuro Antico "? You made it to divert you or with financial intentions?

Angelo: Not, it is an album made absolutely to divert itself, made in six days, and in Italy it has success however, considered as dique of classical music.
